Dear members of VDMA, dear friends of the engineering industry,

on 8th of November VDMA will organize the “6th VDMA Mechanical Engineering Summit” in Shanghai. This summit is the flagship-event of our industry in China and covers a large variety of topics regarding the current development of the Chinese economy. The headline for this year’s summit is “Green Growth in China - Challenge or Opportunity for Mechanical Engineering?”.

China focuses more and more on important topics like “energy saving” and “environment protection”. It is understood that activities in those fields will also support future growth in China. The individual state-of-the-art and high-end solutions of the VDMA member companies can fulfill the increased requirements of our customers and help to further modernize Chinas industry. Therefore, our industry is able to support the ambitious goals of the country.

Besides providing facts member companies – as practical examples - will demonstrate how they deal successfully with the above mentioned topic. Furthermore, this platform provides multiple opportunities for exchange and network.

Carl Martin Welcker was elected VDMA President by the VDMA General Assembly in Berlin on November 11, 2016.

Mr. Welcker has been involved with the VDMA as member of the Main Board since 2001. In his role as Vice President and Treasurer, he has been heading the activities of the Association since 2011.

Ms. Claudia Spahl is the Deputy Consul General of Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany Shanghai.

She joined the German Foreign Service in 1995.

Ms. Claudia Spahl was posted to German Embassies in Hungary, Mongolia and Tajikistan as well as to the Consulate General in Chengdu, China. At the Foreign Office in Berlin she worked at division for the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe and was Head of a sub-division dealing with budgetary and administrative questions of the United Nations.

He also served as a business counselor of the Chinese Consulate in Frankfurt.

Keynote speech: Opportunities and Challenges of Green Manufacture Supply Chain Management in China

Mao Tao, PHD of law, post-doctoral fellow of economics, associate professor, deputy director of the International Energy and Resources Research Institute of the International Center for Economic and Technical Cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and a postgraduate tutor of Hebei University.

In 2010, he was sponsored by the China Scholarship Foundation to visit the University of British Columbia (UBC) for one year. In 2014, he worked for the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology for one year.

Dr. Jakob Riemenschneider is a partner of international law firm Taylor Wessing and the Chief Representative of the firm‘s Hong Kong office.

A German qualified lawyer and tax advisor, he assists European and Asian clients with their cross-continental investments and business activities including acquisitions, international expansion projects, and corporate restructuring. In the China Group of Taylor Wessing, Jakob Riemenschneider is responsible for Environmental Technologies, Food & Agriculture.

Jakob studied in Germany, the UK and China. He is fluent in English, German and Mandarin and is conversational in Spanish.

Dr. Uwe Rondé holds a Doctor Engineer Diploma in Technische Hochschule Darmstadt. Before that he successfully got the Engineer Diploma from the same school.He started his career as a Plant Manager of Plasel Ltd. Then he was CEO of Franz Kessler GmbH and CEO of Intercontec Pfeiffer GmbH.

Since 2014 he has joined the EMAG Holding GmbH as Director Product Line Modular Standard. And as promoted as CEO of EMAG China Machinery in 2015.

Dr. ZHANG Junming was assigned as Managing Director of Festool China since 2006.

Dr. ZHANG Junming started his career as a Research Assistant of Technical University of Berlin in 1987. Then he was Research Engineer of Siemens AG, and R&D Project Manager of Francotyp-Postalia Holding AG. During 1995-1996 he graduated from “East-Asia Manager” training class certified by German Government.

Since 1996 has Dr. Zhang joined Festool China, Hongkong, Macau as the Chief Representative and now he is the Managing Director for Festool China.

HAI Lei was Managing Director in WITTENSTEIN China since 2013

HAI Lei got his BSc degree in industrial automation, an EMBA of INSEAD, another of Tsinghua, MSc of Oxford, a certificate of MIT, and won municipal and national awards in computer competition and excellent innovations.

He had assumed positions of Market Representative, Area Sales Manager, Product Manager, Project Director, Sales Director, Global Project Manager, and Legal Representative at AP, Sony, Intex, Schunk Group, etc. in the past.

In 2013 he joined WITTENSTEIN China as its Managing Director, and is also the Vice President of China Robot Industry Alliance (CRIA).

Mathias Schuster was assigned as VP OE Asia Pacific since 2017.

Mathias Schuster, born 1966, holds a Dipl. Ing. F.H. degree in Engineering Physics. He started his career at MANN+HUMMEL in Germany in 1996 as a Project Manager and held various positions until then e.g. Vice President Product- and Production Management, General Manager of a German subsidiary and most recently as Vice President Business Segment Heavy Duty before relocating to China in Apr 2017.

Mathias is now the VP OE Asia Pacific, acting as regional Business Unit Head for the OE business of MANN+HUMMEL, located in Shanghai.

Grace Chen was assigned as Managing Director of Leitz China since 2014.

Grace Chen has devoted herself to Leitz China since 2001. She held the position of Assistant to Production Manager of Production Planning, Manager of Production Department and Deputy General Manager.

Since 2014 she has been heading the operation of Leitz China as Managing Director.

Ulrich Josef Reichert was promoted to CEO and Managing Director of Wirtgen (China) Machinery Ltd. Since 2003.

Ulrich Josef Reichert, born in 1955, holds a Dipl. Ing. F.H. degree in Civil Engineering. He started his career since 1972, worked at STRABAG BAU AG as Land Surveyor and RHEINBRAUN CONSULTING GmbH as Consulting Engineer. Also MANNESMANN DEMAG CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY as Assistant Sales Manager.

In 1990 he established the WIRTGEN HONGKONG LTD., a 100% subsidiary of the Wirtgen Group and promoted to Managing Director of Wirtgen Hong Kong Ltd. with residence in Hong Kong.

Till now he is the CEO of Wirtgen (China) machinery and fully responsibility for the complete operation.
