Erik is an experienced entrepreneur, event organizer and startup community builder from Germany, based in China since 2010. He is helping China's startup community and ecosystem to thrive and connect with the rest of the world. Erik is doing so in three ways: firstly by starting his own businesses (UrTurn: event agency, SHIFT: LOHAS community, Startup Generation: entrepreneurship thinktank); secondly by representing and organizing global startup events and communities such as Startup Grind, Startup Weekend, Slush and Fuckup Nights in China; and lastly by running startup acceleration programs at Startupbootcamp. At SBC, Erik is responsible to scale local and international tech startups in China where I assist with business development, connecting and advice.

Being a creative entrepreneur and community builder from Germany, Erik have a MA double-degree in Chinese-European Business and Economy from both Germany (Berlin School of Economics and Law) and China (South-Western University of Finance and Law) and focused since 2010 on studies, communities and business in China.

Harriet graduated from SOAS (University of London) with a BA in Chinese and Economics. She then went on to work at a female led, London tech incubator, specializing in femtech and other lifestyle apps.

Harriet is passionate about newly emerging start-up environments, and has experience working in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and London before settling in Chengdu – where she runs new media and marketing agency, Chengdu-Expat. In the last year she has designed campaigns for national and international heavyweights such as Adidas, BMW, and DiDi Chuxing.

Harriet is also the Co-founder of the Women in Business Network – a platform for women, by women, which seeks to connect, empower and educate.

Dieter Vanonckelen is a Belgian fascinated by other cultures and civilisations from childhood on. After living a year in South-America, he obtained his Master in Sinology at Leuven University and has lived 10 years in China. He can now speak, read and write Chinese fairly fluently and I have learned a lot about Chinese society.

► Through the implementation of a wide variety of projects (www.Chengdu-Expat.com, The Beer Nest, MORE Magazine, Munchwich, Startup Weekend, etc) and active involvement in the city’s vibrant community, he considered Chengdu's No. 1 foreign KOL.

► Through the implementation of this wide variety of projects, he has developed and continuously maintains a broad network in both the expatriate and local spheres: media, Forbes 500, multinationals, startups, chambers of commerce, real estate, etc. He uses his cross-cultural understanding and linguistic background to take part in successful operations in this unique, demanding & opportune environment.
