This session will review key recent developments and challenges in China’s urbanization process, as highlighted in the volume. Drawing on the insights of outside experts, the panel discussion will focus on the critical institutional context and policies that have contributed to China’s urbanization, the progress made towards the ambitious urbanization goals for 2020, and the myriad challenges that still lie ahead.
