AUCA is a non-for-profit association of professionals representing international higher education institutions in China. The full name of AUCA is American Universities in China Association. The Chinese name of AUCA has been slightly altered to reflect the fact that an increasing number of non-American universities and their official delegates are becoming members of the AUCA community. Founded in 2014 by three American university representatives, AUCA currently has over 150 representatives from more than 120 leading global universities. These university representatives are from the United States, Canada, Italy, Ireland, Singapore, Spain and Switzerland.
The purposes of the association are exclusively educational, not for profit, and are to promote educational, academic, and cultural exchanges and understandings between international higher education institutions and Chinese students, families and institutions; and assist in the development of professional competence and expertise of individuals involved in the above-mentioned endeavor.
The governing body of AUCA is composed of a number of committees and sub-committees and an advisory board. Four sub-committees are currently existing: ·Career Services Committee, Student Recruitment Committee, Alumni Engagement Committee, and Academic Partnership Committee. All committee members and advisors are volunteers and receive NO compensation for their services to AUCA. AUCA organizes undergraduate recruitment fairs, high school tours, graduate recruitment fairs, career fairs for Chinese returnees, career workshops, alumni mixers and international education forums through out the year.
Non-resident Institutional membership is open to American universities without offices in China. Non-resident Institutional membership also allows its members full benefits, including voting privileges at AUCA.

Standard Institutional membership is open to American universities with offices in China. When the institution pays the membership dues, the membership is linked to no more than two individuals, who have official roles at the institution or are authorized by the institution to represent it. Employee (or official delegate) membership linked to an institutional member is and only transferable upon personnel changes at the institution. But only one transfer is allowed within a membership year. Institutional membership allows its members full benefits, including voting privileges at AUCA. Members associated with Standard Institutional Membership are eligible to become Rotary President of AUCA.

Affiliate Institutional membership is open to non-American universities. An affiliate membership cannot be transferred to another person. Affiliate members do not have voting privileges.
Affiliate members are eligible to become sub-committee members but not eligible for becoming chairs and rotary president.
