This months breakfast will take place on the penultimate day of COP26, and summarize the agreements, challenges, and urgency of this climate conference. Tips will be shared on how to make your own organizations more sustainable, and carbon neutral.
What is COP 26?
The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP26, is likely to be one of the most important meetings of leaders, of our generation, and it is taking place right now in Glasgow, in the UK. Here, global representatives will come together to reach agreement on how to tackle climate change.
The summit is already in full swing, and will last for 12 days - until November 12th. World leaders have already arrived in Scotland, alongside tens of thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses and citizens for twelve days of tasks. Most experts believe COP26 has a unique urgency.
Why is COP 26 worth getting out of bed early for?
The world is getting warmer because of fossil fuel emissions caused by humans.
Icecaps are melting and sea levels are rising.
We are seeing more extreme weather events taking place around the world - including heatwaves, floods and forest fires, these naturally occurring events are being made worse because of the effects of climate change.
The past decade was the warmest on record, and governments around the world agree that urgent action is needed.
