Environment:
When it comes to making responsible decisions, one of the top priorities is how to create economic growth without hurting the environment. This has been a top-down initiative led by governments. Now, we are advocating for actions from the bottom up. Come join an evening of refreshing and powerful speakers who are real-life examples of sustainable living on different scales in Beijing, and take away actionable life hacks on sustainable living. Mingle and "speed date" with like-minded people through discussions over fun and meaningful questions. Interested people can also join forces in a one-month challenge following the event to embark on the journey of sustainable living.
By now, it's common knowledge that our earth is suffering. Forests and lakes are disappearing, air pollution is hitting all-time highs, and biodiversity is drastically decreasing. July 27th, 2019 was declared Earth Overshoot Day. It was estimated that world populations had consumed more prime resources in 7 months than the Earth is capable of producing in a whole year.
This is extremely stressful for our landscapes, atmosphere and ecosystems, and, needless to say, highly unsustainable.
Up to now, many have pinpointed governments led top-down initiatives as the answer, but what can we, as individuals, do to respond to this global challenge?
It is this question that brought us together to organize "Sustainability NOW."
Join us this Tuesday night (Dec. 10) at The Opposite House to learn and discuss how global citizens with skills and know-how can be actors of change and make a real impact. We'll listen to refreshing and powerful speakers who are both advocates of a sustainable lifestyle and leaders of impactful movements. You can expect to take away actionable life hacks on how to achieve sustainable living, and answer big questions over fun and dynamic conversations with like-minded people. What's more, people who are inspired by the collaborative journey of sustainable living will be able to join forces in a one-month online challenge following the event!
Instead of pointing fingers, let's aim to be upstanders, driving a movement that prioritizes our own actions, which can spread to our own communities and beyond. We cannot do this alone - we will need collaboration. That is why we're looking to get change-makers such as yourselves involved.
We look forward to seeing you there!
