Janice Bareng-Pineda, a dedicated Learning Support teacher and special education needs coordinator at Harrow School Beijing, champions inclusive education with over a decade of experience. Her passion extends beyond the classroom as she organizes events advocating special education, mental health, and wellbeing. Dr. Kuo’s expertise spans trauma-informed care, mental health recovery, and community-based program development. Certified as a psychiatric rehabilitation practitioner (CPRP), SibShops trainer, and mindfulness facilitator through UCLA’s Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior, she has recently focused on pediatric and adolescent mental health initiatives across Southeast Asia using a community-based, train-the-trainer model. Stephenie Lee is a learning specialist with over ten years of experience serving students with ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and language processing disorders in North America and Asia-Pacific. Trained in programs such as PRT, iLs, Orton-Gillingham, and Lindamood Bell, Stephenie is also the founder of Beacon Learning, a Beijing-based organization that provides customized sensory motor, cognitive processing, and executive functioning interventions to students to help them thrive in academic and social settings.
Dr. Yun Liu earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Beijing Normal University and completed her Ph.D. in school psychology at the University of Arizona. During her doctoral studies, she undertook a full-time internship at Blythedale Children’s Hospital. Following her doctoral graduation, Dr. Liu worked in a public school district in the San Francisco Bay Area. In the past six years, she has worked at a pediatric clinic in Beijing, providing psychoeducational assessment services for students from international schools. Dr. Liu is a licensed psychologist (CA PSY30905) and a nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP) in the United States. She is also a credentialed school psychologist in California. Throughout my career, I have taken on various leadership roles, including serving as a Grade Level Leader for approximately 10 years and as the Head of Junior Primary for a year. My expertise extends beyond the classroom, as I have been actively involved in curriculum development and the creation of EAL (English as an Additional Language) resources, contributing to the improvement of English proficiency in the schools I have taught at. Additionally, I have experience teaching the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) and the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). Suzanne Robare has been serving the educational community of Beijing since 1992 in various capacities, including local and international schools, in television, and in publishing. She holds two Master’s degrees in Education (Special Ed/EAL and Teacher Training) with post graduate studies in linguistics, Reading Recovery, and Educational Leadership. Her doctoral studies as an Educational Psychologist were derailed by COVID but she will be continuing to work towards a PhD with a focus on Reading and Literacy.
Monte Rosen is an accomplished figure in the realm of education and mental health support. Monte was serving as the Managing Director and Founder of ELG from its founding in 2006 up until June 2024 when he stepped into an advisory role. Since 2006, ELG has been a beacon of hope for thousands of children, families and over 90 schools, supporting children with autism, learning disabilities, and mental health. Monte's visionary leadership propelled ELG to the forefront of the field, championing the vital concept of "neurodivergent affirming" practices in education. He is currently working at Beijing Galaxy Fangyuan Technology Co., Ltd., where he is involved in the research and clinical application of individualized neuromodulation technologies guided by personalized brain function segmentation techniques.
