"Museum Education from the Perspective of Cultural Heritage"

Plan for the Fourth International Symposium on the Ideological and Moral Construction for Minors in Yangpu District

Background

In the report at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that "Culture is a country's and nation's soul. Our country will thrive only if our culture thrives, and our nation will be strong only if our culture is strong. Without full confidence in our culture, without a rich and prosperous culture, the Chinese nation will not be able to rejuvenate itself."

Deeply rooted in a nation or a country, culture is an inexhaustible motive force for the development and prosperity of a nation or a country. In the information age, diverse cultures spread rapidly and widely, which has taken its toll on the culture of nations: the phenomenon of attaching importance to foreign cultures and neglecting national culture has been common among the minors. If this is allowed to develop, it will be detrimental to the continuity, inheritance and development of one's own culture.

Therefore, cultural heritage and education must start from minors. However, cultural inheritance is more than just a thing of schools, it is a matter of society. As tangible carrier of history and culture, museums faithfully record the past, present and future of human beings. Museums have important educational functions and are important educational places. Thus, it is an innovative way to carry out museum education for minors.

In recent years, practical explorations of museum education for minors have been carried out and some experience has been accumulated in some advanced regions and cities in China. However, compared with museum education in Europe and the United States, where museum education was carried out much earlier, big gaps still exist in the activity mechanism, curriculum content, supporting services and other aspects.

The Fourth International Symposium on the Ideological and Moral Development for Minors will be held with the theme of "Museum Education from the Perspective of Cultural Heritage". Through the exchange and discussion of experts from various countries, some reference experience for the education of minors will be provided, some enlightening ideas will be produced and great practical significance will be brought.
