How to Make a Career Change into Tech

JingJobs Professional Development Series

Summary:

As exciting as it is, switching industries involves a learning curve, especially if it's in the tech field. JingJobs has invited 3 speakers who will share their experiences working and transitioning into a tech related role/company, and what qualifications, attitude and skillset is needed to thrive in a tech driven environment. This workshop is ideal for those currently in a traditional or non-tech industry, looking to make a career change or transition into a more tech related work setting.

We will cover questions such as:

1. What are the benefits of a career change into tech? Is it worth all the time and effort?

2. What are my options? Is there only Big Data, AI and other trends I read about? What are some positions other than "coder" or "developer"?

3. I do not have any tech related experience or a computer science/engineering degree, am I qualified? How do I know if it's for me or not?

4. How do I start the process of a career change? Where can I find all the information before I take any steps?

5. What is the tech industry like in China as work environment? Is it actually 9-9-6 working hours like in the news?

6. What are great online tools and readings that can help me prep for an interview?

7. Should I go back to school for it? Is a computer science, engineering or tech related degree necessary in China?

8. What are some tech bootcamps available in China and are they worth it?

9. How can I build a portfolio or CV critical and impressive enough for job hunting in this field?
