World Suicide Prevention Day takes place on September 10 each year. This important day works to promote action to prevent suicides. This year CCS Counseling is holding a group walk to raise awareness about suidice, mental illnesses associate with suicide and that suicide is preventable.
The theme for World Suicide Prevention Day 2021-2023 is "Creating Hope Through Action." On September 10, join together with us as we walk for the prevention of suicide. The impact of the pandemic in the last 3 years has increased the pressure and challenges faced by many across the globe. And we know that the protective factors of connection and interaction with others is crucial in the prevention of isolation often associate with suicide ideation and behavior.
It is our goal on September 10th to help us to connect with those around us, to encourage others to reach out in order to help both ourselves and others who may experiencing mental health distress. Most of us experience challenges in our lives and we cope and react in different ways but there are some important signs that you can be aware of:
- increased isolation
- increased anger, irritability, tearfulness, restlessness or agitation
- an extreme change in behavior
- lack of energy and engagement in previously enjoyable activities
Through walking with us and raising awareness around mental health distress, you are showing people that they are valued, that you care, and that there resources out there that can help.
