Phek Yen
NG Phek Yen has strong business background with more than 18 years of working experience in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Malaysia. She is a Cultural Transformation Consultant of Barrett Values Centre, and also a Chartered Certified Accountant of ACCA and HKICPA. She was the Finance Director for China Mobile Group in China, where she was the first and only expatriate in China Mobile Group which consists of more than 300,000 employees during that period. Her extensive management experience in Chinese State-Owned companies and MNCs has provided her intercultural experience in understanding, growing, and leading teams of diverse cultures.
With her strong business and financial background, Phek Yen is sharp to unpack the complexities of financial data and link the data to the human behaviors of financial performance – making the intangible, tangible; linking culture (ways of working) to performance. She believes that ‘what you measured is what you get’. She also adopts innovative and interactive play approach in her facilitation style.
Phek Yen is the founder of Awakenings and The Borneo Consulting, both are management consultancy and training company that incorporated in Hong Kong and Beijing, respectively, focus on helping leaders and organizations in measuring and managing cultures, including intercultural competence in global leadership development and corporate cultural transformation & integration. She believes that leadership with cultural sensitivity and self-awareness are the top skills for leaders & organizations to be sustainable in the 21st century globalization era.
Phek Yen received her EMBA from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is also a Certified LEGO® Serious Play™ Facilitator, and Certified FORTH Innovation Facilitator.
