Rabbi Fred Morgan lived in the States and the U.K. before moving to Australia 18 years ago to take up the position of Senior Rabbi at Temple Beth Israel, the flagship synagogue of the Union of Progressive Judaism in Australia, New Zealand and Asia. He was made Emeritus at TBI two years ago. Since then he has spent time working with various communities around the UPJ, including congregations in Wellington, the Gold Coast and Brisbane. He is also actively involved with interfaith relations through the Council of Christians and Jews and other organisations, and he is Professorial Fellow at the Australian Catholic University.
Rabbi Morgan has led Jewish-themed tours to several locations in Europe as well as India and Morocco. His next tour will be in May 2017 to Central Asia following the ancient Silk Road. He is married to Sue, a Pastoral Carer, and they have three children and one grandchild.
