In August 2017, Dr Althauser was appointed Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai. She grew up in Land Baden-Württemberg in Germany. After studying Political Science, Slavic Languages and Literature and Sinology in Heidelberg, Taiwan, Moscow and Luxembourg, she joined the Federal Foreign Office in 1985. She was posted to the German Embassy in Beijing from 1987 to 1990. From 1990 until 1993, she worked at the USSR/Russia desk at Federal Foreign Office headquarters in Bonn. She was subsequently posted to the German Embassies in The Hague and in Moscow. She has been seconded to the Policy Planning Staff at the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin, has been posted to the Permanent Representations of the Federal Republic of Germany to the European Union in Brussels and to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, and has served as Head of the Crisis Prevention Division at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. Ms Althauser received her doctoral degree from Heidelberg University and has lectured in Political Science at Freiburg University while working at the Federal Foreign Office’s Economic Affairs Directorate-General. Prior to her assignment in Shanghai, Dr Althauser was Head of the Press Section at the German Embassy in Moscow and also served as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Skopje (Macedonia) for three years.
Brigitte Robinson-Seyrlehner grew up in Waidhofen/Ybbs, Lower Austria. Her father was an engineer, working most of his life outside of Austria. The family could not always join the father abroad, but the fascination of travel and exploring different cultures and countries was a major part of her future career plans. In 1991 she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after finishing commercial school. Her first posting as a young junior officer in Dakar, Senegal, was followed by a brief stay in Vienna and until now Brigitte Robinson-Seyrlehner has served in Zagreb/Croatia, Beijing/China, Rabat/Morocco, The Hague/The Netherlands, Madrid/Spain, mostly in consular roles. Since September 2017 she represents Austria as Consul General in Shanghai.
Richard Krpač is a diplomat, lawyer and Chevening scholar. He currently serves as Consul General of Czech Republic in Shanghai. He has served for 25 years at Czech diplomatic missions, including in Washington D.C., Toronto, Beijing and Shanghai.
