Peter Mambwe was born and raised in Zambia before moving to Washington DC and becoming a dual citizen. He attended and played varsity soccer for Woodrow Wilson High School, winning the city championship title both years he played. He studied at Pennsylvania State University before transferring to the Honors College of George Mason University pursuing a double major in International Development and Mandarin Chinese. Peter first traveled to China with the APSA organization in 2008 and has since remained an involved alumnus, sitting on the Alumni Advisory Council and recently accepting a position as APSA’s first official Alumni President and Spokesperson. In 2017, he accepted a full scholarship from the Chinese Scholarship Council and is currently undertaking a yearlong Mandarin Chinese language study program at Fudan University in Shanghai. For the near future, Peter aims to create more opportunities for himself in the IT sector of the International Development career field. To do so, he is acquiring additional IT Professional certifications to continue building upon not only his language skills but his technical skills.

Raven Willis grew up in Georgia. She participated in the IB Program at North Atlanta High School where she received the IB Diploma and studied abroad in China with APSA in 2009. She graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College with her Bachelor of Arts in Government and Asian/Middle Eastern Studies. During her time at Dartmouth, she studied Mandarin, lived and worked in Beijing, and became passionate about education in China. She also worked for Teach For China and Dandelion Middle School, a middle school for migrant children in Beijing. After graduating, she moved to Beijing and taught English to students aged 3 to 16 for two years. In 2016, Raven joined Due West Education as a Primary Counselor to have a greater impact on high school students’ lives by helping them realize their academic and personal goals and apply to U.S. colleges. In January 2018, Raven was promoted and is currently a Strategy Counselor on the Undergraduate Team.

Jennifer is the Executive Director of Americans Promoting Study Abroad (APSA) a New York-based non-profit that unites and empowers diverse American youth through studying abroad. Since 2015, she has helped the organization launch it’s Global Alumni Network, develop its scholarship fund and refine its programs to equip diverse American youth with foreign language fluency, cross-cultural awareness, and 21st-century professional skills.

Born and raised in Canada, Jennifer has dedicated over 15 years to working with companies and non-profits in youth development, outdoor education, experiential learning and global education. It was a rock climbing trip that brought her to Yangshuo, China in 2005 and opened the possibility of developing a more global career path.

Passionate about women empowerment, Jennifer dedicates her spare time to supporting the Beijing Women’s Network and their Healthy Living series.
