Jack Cheng is Co-founder and Executive Vice President of NIO, and the Chief Executive Officer of XPT. As a pioneer in the automotive industry, his focus is to empower a joyful future and mobilize the world through affordable autonomous electric cars.
NIO is much more than a car company. NIO designs and develops smart, high- performance electric vehicles with an aim to be the first “User Enterprise” in the world. NIO’s mission is to provide a joyful lifestyle for our users. XPT is uniquely positioned to be the first advanced technology company that can provide global quality and technology with a local presence. With China as the world’s largest EV market, the partnership between NIO and XPT addresses the growing electric vehicle demand, while XPT as the provider of advanced technology components and solutions, will be the “head and heart” of the vehicle.
Jack’s sights are set on making NIO and XPT the number one provider of electric autonomous vehicles in the world.
Prior to NIO and XPT, he was also the China Country Manager of Magneti Marelli and Chairman of Fiat Automobiles, Co. Ltd. His leadership on a global level began at Ford in 1981 where Jack started in components design engineering and later moved to product planning and product development. With the Ford and Mazda partnership, Jack was instrumental in the orchestration and export of a a Taiwan built Tracer (Mazda3) to Canada in 1986.
Jack’s success can be attributed to his ability to create and foster international business and government relationships, while his instincts allow him to see what’s next and blaze the trail to get there.
He believes that the next phase of the mobility and electric vehicle industry —will be the greatest opportunity yet. The future is in smart, electric and autonomous vehicle and NIO and XPT are placing their bets in this market.
Jack graduated from Taiwan National Cheng Kung University where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He enjoys music and playing the electric guitar. When home, he spends time with his wife, two sons and their family pets.

Dr. Stephen Chu (Research Program Director of IBM)

Dr. Stephen Chu is a Research Program Director at IBM. He leads the worldwide Sales Science program in IBM Global Labs.

Before his current assignment, Stephen was a Research Staff Member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in New York for over ten years, and conducted research in the Automatic Speech Recognition field. His team won the top prize in the DARPA-organized speech recognition contest for five consecutive times, beating top competing teams from SRI, BBN, and Cambridge University. His pioneering work in Audio-Visual Speech recognition was featured in the PBS program Scientific American Frontiers with Alan Alda.

Stephen’s research interests include: Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision, and Signal Processing. He has published over 70 papers in relevant journals and conferences. Stephen studied Physics at Peking University in Beijing, China, and received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering form University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Lin Daozhuang is recently the Member at Asia-Pacific Executive Committee of IEEE Digital Senses Centers of Excellence, Senior Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Economist of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security. Lin Daozhuang graduated from Tsinghua University Computer Science and Technology Department, and then led the development and operation of a number of key projects in China Mobile. He is a committee member of data product planning and review all the year round, and an expert in the fields of cutting-edge technologies such as digital visualization,Blockchain,Big Data, AI.

During his time at Tsinghua University, he majored in computer software and distributed storage technology. As early as in 2000, Lin daozhuang led and participated in various research projects in the fields of decentralized data management and artificial intelligence such as the intelligent data mining project in vertical domain and the intelligent identification of license plates, etc. After graduation, Lin Daozhuang entered China Mobile in 2003, led several products with tens of millions of active users such as the mobile wallet, 12580 and CMCC WLAN in Beijing, and researched and practiced the personalized intelligent applications of big data in such fields as finance, insurance, E-Commerce and social contact. In 2015, Lin daozhuang participated in the successful landing of intellectual property related enterprises in the new third board market. Then Lin Daozhuang joined the IEEE Digital Senses Program, to assist Dr. Yuan Yu, the Chairman of IEEE Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Standard Working Group, to actively promote the formulation of relevant international standards, and had completed successful approval of 12 international standards such as the "interoperability between virtual objects and the real world" by the end of 2017.

Since 2013, Lin Daozhuang began to stay focused on the development of blockchain technology and its applications in various industries, assist Dr. Yuan Yu to prepare and establish the IEEE Block Chain Assets Transaction Committee in 2017, and successfully held the first committee meeting at CES 2018 Las Vegas in January 2018. Now, Lin Daozhuang is also promoting the IEEE blockchain assets transaction work and the preparation of IEEE Digital Perception Global Innovation Center, focusing on the global industry convergence of artificial intelligence cutting-edge technology in the digital perception fields such as block chain, virtual reality, augmented reality, intelligent robot, wearable devices, etc. and the fields of finance, transportation, medical treatment, education, retail, tourism, manufacturing, national defense, real estate, etc., as well as the VR/AR developer training of

IEEE Digital Sense Program in the Asia-Pacific region, with partners of VR First, the internationally renowned training institute, etc. As the Asia-Pacific region executive committee member of the Innovation Center, Lin Daozhuang actively promotes the application and popularization of digital perception technology in the training of industries such as medical treatment, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, energy, etc., and IEEE Digital Perception Program has established the developer community which contains nearly 7000 IEEE professional members all over the world in 2017.

Yonghua Lin is IBM Distinguished Engineer, Leader of AI System research, and member of IBM Academy of Technology. She has worked on system architecture, cloud computing, AI system and computer vision for more than 15 years. And now she is focusing on the AI system for industry. She led the team built and operate IBM Supervessel innovation cloud, including OpenStack, container cloud, GPU and FPGA, computer vision technologies. The related technologies have been used by IBM Waston and IBM PowerAI, and PowerAI Vision products. She herself has more than 50 patents granted worldwide and publications in top conferences and journals.

Ruigang Yang is currently Chief Scientist for 3D Vision, Director for Baidu Robotics and Autonomous Driving Lab. He leads the Robotics and Autonomous Driving Lab (RAL). Before joining Baidu. he was a full professor of Computer Science at the University of Kentucky. He obtained his PhD degree from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MS degree from Columbia University. His research interests span over computer graphics and computer vision, in particular in 3D reconstruction and 3D data analysis. He has published over 100 papers, which, according to Google Scholar, has received close to 10000 citations with an h-index of 48 (as of 2017). He has received a number of awards, including US NSF Career award in 2004 and the Dean’s Research Award in 2013. He is currently an associate editor of IEEE TPAMI and a senior member of IEEE.

He enjoys strong collaborative relationships with mobile device vendors, wireless carriers, automotive OEM, Tier 1 suppliers, certification/testing labs, and industry association representatives.

Dennis Fu spent over 20 years in various engineering, management and director level roles at SSERI, Analog Devices, Qualcomm, and Spirent Communications before he started working for CDG and GCF as the regional head in China/APAC. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a MBA from University of San Diego.
