Network Director of Economist Corporate Network

Rachel Morarjee is director of the Economist Corporate Network, the Economist Group’s advisory network and executive briefing service. She has lived in Beijing continuously for the last three years, having begun her international media career in China in the late 1990s. Immediately prior to joining The Economist Group, Rachel worked as the Reuters Breakingviews’ China columnist, covering financial risk and China’s recent overseas investment splurge. She earlier served as a consultant at Brunswick Group advising Chinese firms on their global media strategies and non-Chinese firms on Chinese government relations. Before moving back to China in 2013, Rachel worked as a foreign correspondent for over two decades, writing for the Financial Times in London, Moscow and Afghanistan, covering subjects ranging from the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan to Russian banking and European stock markets. A fluent Mandarin speaker, she worked for Agence France Presse as Shanghai Bureau Chief as well as in Hong Kong and Kabul during the beginning of her career. Rachel read Chinese and History at London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.

Zoe has more than ten years of senior executive experience that spans business, nonprofit and philanthropic sectors. She previously worked at Horizon Research Consultancy Group for over a decade, which is one of China's earliest and most influential think tanks. She honed her leaderships skills at Horizon eventually becoming the youngest Vice President in the organization. Her extensive research experiences in public opinion and social studies have enabled her to serve as a bridge locally between the public and the government in China as well as internationally.
After completing her Hubert Humphrey fellowship in the U.S. in 2011, Zoe came back to China and shifted her career from a social researcher to a leadership role in the philanthropy industry. From 2015 to March 2018, She was the Vice Secretary General and took overall responsibility for fund raising in One Foundation. One Foundation is the first and biggest civic public fundraising foundation in China, founded by Jet Li. It is a leader in public engagement, public fundraising as well as accountable philanthropic products providers to millions of beneficiaries.
In 2017, she is selected by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board for a Distinguished Humphrey Leadership Award and took the Executive Education program in Leadership for the 21st Century in Harvard Kennedy School.

Stephanie Zhao is the Sales Director at nakedHub Beijing, a premium co-working operator in Asia with an aim of integrating new health & wellness concepts within co-working. Before joining nakedHub, Stephanie had been working in real estate for over 10 years, covering a wide range of roles from commercial real estate agent, sales manager, general manager, and area director. Being fighting in frontlines, managing highly competitive sales team, and leading both sales and operation teams to achieve different goals, Stephanie knows what builds and drives a successful and happy team.

Born and grew up in Hubei province, China, Stephanie graduated from Nankai University and then MBA from La Trobe University in Australia.
