[IMPORTANT NOTICE-CHANGE OF VENUE] - Due to an overwhelming preference expressed by past and prospective overseas participants for Beijing as their desired conference location, the 2018 Annual China Global Think Tank Innovation Forum will now be held in Beijing instead of Qingdao, China as originally planned.
The Third Annual China Global Think Tank Innovation Forum will be held on June 17, 2018 in Beijing, China. This year's forum comes at a critical juncture in global politics and economics. The fragile global economy has proven robust enough to navigate shocks that defined the year 2017, from waves of populist politics to worldwide protectionist tendencies. However, the world still faces looming dangers such as ticking debt bombs, intensifying geopolitical competition, and the precarious position of industrial workers due to rapid technological advancements and the development of global value chains. Amidst this context, this year's forum will address a range of pertinent questions:
The conference will cover the most pressing issues facing think tanks today and solicit innovative, and forward-looking solutions. This global forum will be attended by leaders, executives, and researchers from national, regional, and global networks of think tanks, research institutions, nonprofits, advocacy groups, and other civil society organizations.
Location: Beijing is a cosmopolitan capital that has served for centuries as the political and cultural center of China's vast territory. It is home to countless world-famous landmarks from China's imperial past such as the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, as well as towering architectural symbols of China's rapid economic development and bustling modern entertainment hotspots. Today's Beijing is a unique kaleidoscope of tradition and modernity and its primacy in China's history and politics make it a magnet for foreign scholars seeking to understand China.
Organizers: The Annual China Global Think Tank Innovation Forum is co-organized by the Think Tank and Civil Society Program (TTCSP) Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania; and the Center for China and Globalization (CCG).
