Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) was established in November 2002, funded by the Li Ka Shing Foundation. It is the first non-profit educational institution in China with independent legal status, governed by a structure common to the world's business schools. The school is dedicated to "cultivating a group of world-class business leaders with a global perspective and the ability to integrate global resources, who are also endowed with humanistic care and social responsibility, as well as an innovative spirit, for China and the world." Its mission is to create a leading new generation of business schools globally, addressing significant challenges faced by the business community with new insights and thinking, and serving business leaders in China and around the world through the development of management research and business education.
Leveraging the rise of China's economy and with strong support from the government and the Li Ka Shing Foundation, CKGSB has developed over more than a decade into a school with a full-time faculty of over 40 world-class professors, contributing a series of original management ideas from China that lead the world. In 2005, CKGSB pioneered the systematic introduction of humanities courses and public welfare practices into business management education, becoming the first business school globally to propose cultivating "humanistic care" in entrepreneurs. The school boasts one of China's most influential elite alumni groups, with over half of its 10,000 alumni serving as CEOs or presidents. The school is headquartered in Beijing, with teaching sites in Shanghai and Shenzhen, and has representative offices in Hong Kong, London, and New York. It has taken the lead in launching senior management courses in developed economies like Europe and America, exporting original management ideas that significantly impact emerging markets and the global business landscape to the West, becoming one of the high-end learning platforms for two-way exchange and integration of global management education resources between the East and the West.
CKGSB is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), and has received EQUIS accreditation. It is also approved by the State Council's Academic Degrees Committee as a "Master of Business Administration degree-granting unit" (including EMBA and MBA). The school currently offers a Master of Business Administration program (MBA), a Financial MBA program (FMBA), an Executive Master of Business Administration program (EMBA), a Doctor of Business Administration program (DBA), and Executive Education programs (EE).
