Charles Kuai, Corporate Vice President- Greater China Region, Nuance
Charles has an impressive background as he comes to Nuance as a 25 year seasoned executive in the in ICT (Internet Communications and Technology) industry. Most recently, Mr. Kuai was the CEO and President of Ubee-AirWalk, a fast-growing global Wireless Networking company. Mr. Kuai has also held many senior executive roles including SVP & GM at Asia, ADB Holdings and General Manager Wireless at Nortel, Greater China. He has also served over a decade as an executive with AT&T where he led the engineering and technology practice globally for its mobile businesses. Mr. Kuai completed his MBA and graduated with distinction from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management. He also holds a dual Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Southern Methodist University.

Arnd Weil, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Automotive, Nuance
Arnd Weil is the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Automotive Business Unit at Nuance. He is responsible for driving innovative automotive assistant solutions incl. embedded and connected voice, multimodal and artificial intelligence for the automotive industry globally. Arnd joined the Nuance Automotive Business in 2002 when the company started equipping the first vehicles with speech technology and has been running the Automotive and Consumer Electronic Business Unit since 2007. Since then, Nuance Automotive has shown double digit growth working with the world’s leading automotive brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Fiat, Ford, GM, Mercedes, and many others, and equips around 30 million new cars per year with Nuance solutions, which give drivers all over the world safe and convenient access to in-car functions as well as off-board services. Prior to joining Nuance Automotive, Arnd worked as Product Manager and Technical Consultant at Dictaphone and L&H, and held various positions at the Research Center of Deutsche Telekom. Arnd graduated with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Technical University of Darmstadt.

Dr. Stefan Ortmanns, Senior Vice President of Engineering & Services, leads R&D and Customer Programs for the Mobile Division. He joined Nuance Communications in March 2004. Prior to Nuance, Stefan Ortmanns worked at Philips Speech Processing, Bell Labs., Lucent Technologies, and the University of Technology Aachen (RWTH). He holds master degrees in mechanical engineering, computer science and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Technology Aachen (RWTH), Germany. He has been working in the field of speech recognition for 25 years.

Ran Xu, Director R&D, Mobile China, Nuance
Ran Xu is the Director of Research and Development, Mobile Speech in China. He is responsible for bringing in Nuance world-wide cutting-edge technology, driving research and innovation in China for China market and delivering flagship speech solutions for China. Ran joined Nuance in 2011. His team now spreads in 3 R&D centers in China: Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. His team works very close with many world’s leading brands such as BMW, Daimler, Audi, Huawei and SAIC and delivered successful speech systems including new BMW iSpeech system and SAIC Rowe-RX5. Prior to joining Nuance, Ran got his PhD degree in Speech recognition from Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2009.

Yaxin Zhang is the director of professional services at Nuance China. Yaxin joined Nuance in 2009 through an acquisition. Prior to joining Nuance, Yaxin worked at Motorola Labs for 14 years and led the speech recognition lab in China. Yaxin has been working in speech technology area for over 30 years. He has a Bachelor degree and Master degree in Electronics and Information Technologies from Xidian University, and a PhD degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Western Australia. Yaxin published more than 50 technical publications in various international conferences and journals, and holds 17 granted patents.

Andrea Feng, Manager User Interface Design, Mobile China, Nuance
Andrea Feng is the Manager of User Experience Design Team in Nuance Greater China. She is responsible for UI/UX design in Automotive and IoT Connected Devices for both customer solutions and Nuance innovative reference design. Andrea joined Nuance in 2010 and has been working on interactive speech user interface design since then. Her design experience ranges from enterprise solutions for telco contact centers, speech applications and services for handset and connected devices, to automobile in-car infotainment systems. Her design deliveries and concepts are well received by leading OEMs in China and globally, including BMW, Intel, Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, Geely, and others, bringing speech and multimodal interaction design into millions of devices, engaging users with efficient and delightful experiences. Prior to joining Nuance, Andrea worked as Technical Documentation Engineer at Microsoft, and formerly as Linguistic Engineer & UI designer at telco content provider MOKA LLC. Andrea graduated with Bachelor degree in English Language from 211 Project State University China University of Geosciences.

Yueming Wang, Senior Software Engineer, Auto Speech R&D, China, Nuance
Yueming Wang is a Senior Software Engineer of the Auto Speech R&D Department at Nuance, key member of the Speech Signal Enhancement (SSE) team. She is responsible for providing speech signal enhancement solutions for in-vehicle speech solutions including Bluetooth hands free and Voice Recognition. Yueming is dedicated to providing customer-oriented speech enhancement solutions in the era of connected cars and worked with numerous automotive partners including SAIC-Alibaba Banma, Harman, Clarion, Pateo, Delphi, Visteon, Yanfeng Visteon. Yueming contributing to over 20 projects deployed in the market including Roewe RX5, Haval H8 H9, Buick Excelle and others. Prior to joining Nuance SSE, Yueming graduated with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, majored in Signal Processing.
Dongjian Yue is the senior manager of TTS R&D of the Automotive Business Unit at Nuance. He is responsible for driving innovative Chinese TTS solutions incl. languages (dialects) and voices (portfolio, custom and featured) R&D for automotive and other business units globally. Dongjian joined Nuance in 2010. Since then, he was involved and led the R&D of several languages and dialects, including Mandarin (China), Mandarin (Taiwan), Cantonese (Hongkong), Sichuannese (China) and Shanghainese (China) and more than 12 voices of all categories. All these have been successfully integrated into Nuance Automotive, Mobile and Enterprise solutions and widely used in all kinds of user applications. Prior to joining Nuance Automotive, Dongjian worked as associate professor in Tongji University and senior staff researcher at Motorola China Research Center (MCRC). Dongjian graduated with Phd. degree in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Systems from Tongji University, holds Bachelor and Master degrees in Computer Science and Technology from Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU).

Junbo Wei, Director, Head of Sales Automotive in China, is responsible for Nuance China automotive business development and sales. He is based in Shanghai and his team spreads in Shanghai, Beijing and Shenzhen very closely supporting all global and domestic car OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers in China. Junbo joined Nuance in 2013. Prior to joining Nuance, Junbo worked for Delphi and Bosch. He got his bachelor degree in automotive engineering from Jilin university and master degree of business administration from Shanghai Jiaotong University.
