In August 2017, Dr Althauser was appointed Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai. She grew up in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. After studying Political Science, Slavic Languages and Literature and Sinology in Heidelberg, Taiwan, Moscow and Luxembourg, she joined the Federal Foreign Office in 1985. She was posted to the German Embassy in Beijing from 1987 to 1990. From 1990 until 1993, she worked at the USSR/Russia desk at Federal Foreign Office headquarters in Bonn. She was subsequently posted to the German Embassies in The Hague and in Moscow. She has been seconded to the Policy Planning Staff at the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin, has been posted to the Permanent Representations of the Federal Republic of Germany to the European Union in Brussels and to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, and has served as Head of the Crisis Prevention Division at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. Ms Althauser received her doctoral degree from Heidelberg University and has lectured in Political Science at Freiburg University while working at the Federal Foreign Office’s Economic Affairs Directorate-General. Prior to her assignment in Shanghai, Dr Althauser was Head of the Press Section at the German Embassy in Moscow and also served as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Skopje (Macedonia) for three years.

Mark Hauptmann was born on April 29, 1984, in Weimar, Germany. After graduating from high school in Suhl in 2003, he began studying political science, intercultural business communication, and economic and social history at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, the Kansai Gaidai University in Osaka, Japan, and the Yale University in New Haven, CT, USA. Mr. Hauptmann received a scholarship from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Japan Student Service Organization during his studies.
Then, in the 16th and 17th legislative periods, he worked as an office manager and research assistant for Christian Hirte, Member of the Bundestag (CDU) in the German Bundestag in Berlin. Since 2010 he has been a lecturer at the Thuringian universities of Erfurt and Jena and taught courses in political science.
He also worked in the European Parliament in Brussels, for the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Beijing, China, and on the management team of the Thuringian Ministry of Building, Regional Development, and Transport.

Mr. Hauptmann founded the communications company Kairos Communication, whose managing director he was between 2011 and 2013.
He has been a member of the German Bundestag since October 2013 and a member of the Suhl City Council since May 2014. In November 2016, Mr. Hauptmann took over the chairmanship of the district association of the CDU Suhl. In the 19th legislative period, he acts as Chairman of the "Junge Gruppe" of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and as a parliamentary group's executive committee member.

In October 2016, Dr. Sigrid Winkler was appointed Executive Chamber Manager at the German Chamber of Commerce in China | Shanghai and is in charge of the membership organization at the Chamber. Dr. Winkler joined the German Chamber earlier in spring 2016, initially as Project Manager Social Responsibility where she was responsible for the More than a Market initiative. Dr. Winkler holds a PhD in Political Science from Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium and a bachelor’s degree in Chinese Studies from Vienna University. Before joining the German Chamber, she was Head of Office of the Austrian Academic Exchange Agency (OeAD) in Shanghai. Previously, Dr. Winkler managed international business development projects in China and Eastern Europe for Business Upper Austria, the economic agency of the regional government of Upper Austria. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on EU-China relations, and since 2002, she has been regularly coming back to China for shorter and longer-term stays.

Ms. Wang Yalin, a Chinese national, is the Team Leader of Sustainable Business and Investment Team of United Nations Development Program in China. Since she joined UNDP China in 2006, she has been committed to Corporate Social Responsibility projects, where she has helped facilitate cooperation between UNDP and the Chinese enterprises. She is also active in promoting the international standards and principles, including sustainable development, to the Chinese business community.
Ms. Wang Yalin holds a Bachelor degree from Sichuan International Studies University, Chongqing, China. She also has a degree of Master of Business Administration from the University of Sheffield in UK. Prior to working in UNDP China, she had served in some big multinational corporations, such as Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company.
