Biman Najika Liyanage is a researcher, innovator, entrepreneur who has co-founded several technology ventures in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong focused on mobile internet and smart material-based wearable technologies.
Biman’s innovative projects range from sensor design to fashion technology and 3D food printing. He has cooperated with several Fortune 500 companies, including Microsoft, Intel, Tencent, Porsche, Baidu, Xinhua and others, particularly in the areas of data mining visualization and interactive installations. As a highlight, Biman worked with the Chinese Television Network (CCTV) to integrate wearable technology in the Spring Festival Gala, synchronizing 165 dancers through real-time gesture recognition.
Biman has been featured in national and international media including CRI, CCTV, The Nation, Forbes, TEDx Beijing and more. Biman has won numerous awards and prestigious competitions, including Techcrunch Startup, Fengru Cup, Global Innovation Challenge, and the Durex Design Challenge, among others. Most recently, Biman has been nominated for the Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia, class of 2017 as well as Forbes China, class of 2017 in the Field of Healthcare and Sciences. Biman also serves as a board member for a NGO Business for Better Society where he plays the role of a Technical Advisor, helping NGOs in Southeast Asia identify strong donors. He is a proud Global Shaper in the Beijing Hub II.
Co-founder of the Yi-Qi Data Lab, Biman applies sentiment analysis for voices in the area of affective computing, responding to the cutting-edge demand for scaling machine learning interface software and continuous learning.
In this one-of-a-kind Shaper Training workshop, Biman will help attendees build their own chatbots, and demonstrate how anyone can use this software to predict, analyze, and respond to a client or users’ emotions.
