Tian Wei
Anchorwoman at China Global Television Network, CGTN҂Tian Wei is a former US correspondent and anchor of "World Insight with Tian Wei" on CGTN, an international debate & high-profile interview program. Starting from a radio producer to becoming
a reporter, a news presenter, a talk show host, a Washington Correspondent covering the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and now as host of CGTN, Tian aspires to be the link between China
and the world.

Vince Chan

She co-founds and co-manages Creta Ventures, a EdTech venture investment company strategically partnered with TUSPark Global Network (affiliated with Tsinghua University) to drive cross-border innovation opportunities in education and learning.
Inspiring and nurturing young talents is no strange concept to Vince. Through three teaching assistantships, she has taught undergraduate and graduate students at Yale University. Moreover, she has written two career books for tens of thousands of readers in China, mentored Schwarzman Scholars at Tsinghua and MBAs at Renmin University, coached entrepreneurs at University of Chicago, spoken globally at EdTech conferences, lectured on China’s MOOC platform and placed Chinese students into top US business schools.
Her investment root can be traced back to her achievement in founding and managing US$1bn global credit fund as the Head of Asia Pacific at the world’s largest credit manager TCW Asset Management. As founding principal at Asia’s first fixed income trading specialist (acquired by UK commodities brokerage leader), she was instrumental in building research desk serving Asian and European clientele. She has also demonstrated her practical creativity in pioneering financing solutions (US$40bn+) for insurers and banks. Her diverse entrepreneurship interest has led her to advise and invest in high-potential ventures in BioTech, BlockChain and InsurTech.
In early professional days, Vince has worked at Deloitte & Touche, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Goldman Sachs, Hong Kong Monetary Authority and Standard & Poor’s in Asia and the U.S. Professionally trained as CFA and CPA, Vince has graduated from University of Toronto B.Comm. Summa Cum Laude, Yale University MBA Full-Time and University of Chicago Booth School of Business MBA Executive. In 2015, she was recognised as “Outstanding Overseas Returnee” by Forbes China.
Lucia Li
Partner at Bain & CompanyLucia joined Bain & Company in Shanghai in 2005, after she obtained her Master's degree. Since then, she has been working in the Shanghai, Toronto and Beijing offices in different capacities. From 2008 to 2010, Lucia went to the Wharton School of Business to earn an MBA degree. Lucia is currently a Partner in the Beijing office. In her role, Lucia serves clients which cover a wide range of industries with a focus on private equity, retail, and industrial goods and services. Her expertise includes commercial due diligence, corporate/business unit China growth strategy, and performance improvement.
Dr Xiaoping Yang
President, BP China; Chairperson, BP (China) Holdings LimitedDr. Xiaoping Yang is President of BP China and Chairperson of BP (China) Holdings Limited.
Dr. Yang, since joining BP in 1990 in the US, has accumulated extensive business insights and industry experience on a number of managerial roles in areas of technology, environment and safety, M&A, Commercial and Finance.
Dr. Yang returned to China in 2004 and has since held various executive roles within the petrochemical business, including HR, Planning, Technical and Quality. During this time, Dr. Yang, as one of the principal framers, also participated in the drafting of Industry Standardization of the People's Republic of China on Work Safety issued by State Administration of Work Safety, which has contributed significantly to the safety management of China’s oil and gas industry.
Since 2011, Dr. Yang has been sitting on Boards of Directors and taking executive management roles in different BP entitities, including Director and General Manager of the BP-Sinopec (Zhejiang) Petroleum Company Ltd. (BPSNP), a fuel marketing joint venture between BP and Sinopec, from 2011 to 2014; Chairperson of BP Zhuhai Chemical Company Limited and Director of BP Asia Limited; President of Aromatics Asia; President Commissioner of PT BP Petrochemicals Indonesia; and Deputy General Manager of Shanghai SECCO Petrochemical Company Limited. She was appointed, effective November 2016, President of BP China and Chairperson of BP (China) Holdings Limited, located in Beijing.
Dr. Yang holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago and a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University.
Carma Elliot CMG OBE
Country Director, China (British Council); Minister (Culture and Education), British Embassy BeijingCarma Elliot CMG OBE has been Country Director, British Council China since August 2013; and concurrently Minister (Culture and Education), British Embassy Beijing.
Carma Elliot was a career British diplomat for 23 years between 1987-2010, working in a wide variety of roles including trade and investment and political. Her final three postings were as Consul-General in Chongqing, Jeddah and Shanghai.
Carma was Executive Director at China’s largest international NGO, Half the Sky Foundation 2010-2013, before joining the British Council in April 2013.
2018 marks the 34th anniversary of Carma first coming to China, as a student at Fudan University in Shanghai.
Dr Roli Asthana
Head, China at UK Department for International DevelopmentDr Roli Asthana assumed her position as Development Counsellor and Head of DFID China on 10th August 2017.
Previously she was Deputy Head and Head of Development Partnerships in DFID India, leading DFID’s National, State, Multilateral and Civil Society Partnerships & grant Programmes on Economic Growth, Governance, Health & Nutrition, Education, Urbanisation, Water & Sanitation and Women & Girls.
She has worked in a variety of roles in DFID for 14 years covering countries and regions in the Middle East & North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, South-East Asia and Central Asia.
Dr Asthana is an Economist by profession. Prior to joining DFID, Dr Asthana was an academic and has taught at the London School of Economics as well as the University of East Anglia. She has spent most of her working life in London, and is currently posted in Beijing where she lives with her husband and daughter.
Hannah Ryder
CEO of Development ReimaginedHannah Wanjie Ryder (芮 婉 洁) is the CEO of Development Reimagined, the first Kenyan wholly foreign owned enterprise in China. She is a former Kenyan and British diplomat and economist with over 15 years of high-profile, hands-on policy and leadership experience, including at the UN in China. Her consulting firm provides strategic advice and practical support to Chinese and international organisations and stakeholders on issues ranging from the Belt and Road Initiative, to Africa’s growth markets, development effectiveness, green growth and China’s foreign aid.
Ying Xin
Director of Beijing LGBT CenterYing Xin (Iron), 31, pansexual, is the executive director of the Beijing LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual) Center. She has worked as a volunteer in the area of sexuality equality since 2009. In 2010, Ying co-founded Wuhan Rainbow, a volunteer-based LGBT organization in Wuhan. She participated in the leadership program organized by the Los Angeles LGBT center in 2011, and became a full-time member of staff at the Beijing LGBT Center in 2012. She has also been the co-curator of the Chinese Women’s Film Festival since 2012.
Over the years, she has initiated many LGBT and women’s campaigns such as gay wedding performance art in 2011, lesbian couple’s registrations in 2013, and continuous work on the de-pathologization of LGBT, including organizing training for psychologists in Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou and XI’an. She also initiated the first national survey based on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Gender Expression in partnership with UNDP and Peking University.
She has travelled to many countries to present the situation of the LGBT community in China, and her work has been covered extensively by the media, both at home and abroad.
Xing Zhou

Xing Zhou has 24 years of extensive experience in the financial services industry. She leads efforts in providing various professional services, including strategic positioning, financial governance, performance enhancement, and IPO audits, to all types of financial enterprises, including insurance companies, asset management companies, and banks.
Xing Zhou has been frequently engaged as financial industry expert by the Ministry of Finance and financial industry regulators to advise on the deliberation and formulation of their financial and internal control policies, and has often been engaged by regulators to lead and participate in researches and inspections of financial institutions and insurance companies. She also frequently provides training to and shares her knowledge with regulators and financial institutions.
As PwC China & Hong Kong Diversity Leader, Xing Zhou leads the efforts to ensure PwC stays current with the latest thought leadership and effectively engages different clients and cultures, including acting as the course supervisor in leadership training and knowledge sharing programs for PwC managers and senior manager for the past five years. She focuses on creating a diversified and inclusive environment in PwC China and Hong Kong, and promoting innovation, people engagement and corporate culture within PwC.
Xing Zhou holds a master’s degree in finance from PBOC Graduate School at Tsinghua University (1994), has a bachelor’s degree in finance from Renmin University of China (1992), and is a member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Samantha Kwok

Samantha is a Tedx speaker, and a winner of the WeWork Creator Awards (for her work on the Beijing Women’s Network). Samantha first moved to Beijing in 2013 after graduating from the University of Sydney.
Philip Beck
Chairman at Dubeta Pty LtdPhilip has enjoyed a 40 – year career at C-Level positions in SME’s and publicly-listed companies across the advertising, digital media, e-Commerce, marketing, recruitment and traditional media sectors in Asia-Pacific and the UK.
Since his first China experience in 1995, he has established joint ventures, launched new brands and is now an active investor, Chairman and mentor to more than 20 local Chinese start-ups through his personal private equity company “Dubeta”. Philip mentors numerous female entrepreneurs on how to make it in the China space.
Philip is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, where he majored in corporate governance, risk-management and strategic planning. Oh and he loves flying helicopters.
