About Us

In March 2012, the University of Minnesota and the Tianjin University of Sport formed a partnership to create meaningful and comprehensive cultural programming that will advance the U.S. mission to create an appreciation for the strength and diversity of American culture and society. The American Cultural Center for Sport is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of State.

More specifically, the University of Minnesota’s School of Kinesiology is ranked among the top ten programs nationally. The sport management program and sport sociology graduate program has expertise in sport culture related programs and the school’s Tucker Center for Girls and Women in Sports is specially endowed to introduce the role of sports in U.S. in education, social equity, and diversity. With these partnerships working together, the American Cultural Center for Sport will succeed in introducing American sports culture to China.
