Under The Lens

Robert van der Hilst is a distinguished international photographer whose art and documentary work -- including in China -- has appeared in countless prestigious global publications.

Join him on a tour of his major exhibition underway in Shanghai, followed by a talk about his career.

The show at Fotografiska exhibits van der Hilst's images from Shanghai in the early 1990s, when the Oriental Pearl Tower had just broken ground, the old Nanjing Road was still awaiting a rework, and fashions were changing rapidly. Robert provided photos and materials to the production crew of the hugely popular TV series Blossoms Shanghai for their period research.
