When life gives you lemons, here at Lifeline, we make lemonade! Because of current government regulations on meeting sizes, Lifeline has shifted gears. The full day of workshops, workouts, forums, and presentations that we had been promoting for June 20th will be something to look forward to next March - just when you're getting tired of winter and wishing for spring! This year, R U OK? Day may be a little smaller but big things often come in small packages!
There's a power in staying connected and having meaningful conversations, and that power - that ability to truly connect with someone - is something Lifeline wants to share with everyone around us!
By taking the time to ask "Are you OK?" and listen, you can help someone struggling with life feel connected and supported before they experience more serious mental health problems or thoughts of suicide.
On June 20th, Lifeline is offering two workshops.
3-hour R U OK? workshop
Learn how to ask R U OK? and build more confidence that you have the skills to support someone you are concerned about. This interactive workshop will take you through the 4 steps of having a meaningful conversation and, importantly, how to support someone getting the help they may need. All participants will receive a certificate of completion from Lifeline.
R U OK? in Schools workshop
This double-bill in partnership with Community Centre Shanghai is designed specifically to help teachers, school administrators, guidance counsellors and students start a conversation about mental health on campus. It is packed full of practical information and brand new R U OK? planning materials, lesson plans and resources for middle and high school students, as well as information about mental health resources in Shanghai.
