Dear VDMA member,

Since April, China has imposed export controls on rare earth elements and permanent magnets, a development that has hit the automobile and machinery industry particularly hard. Many companies are experiencing delays and uncertainty as they struggle to obtain the necessary export approvals, placing increasing pressure on supply chains. In this session, we welcome Dr. Köstner from GvW, a recognized expert in export control based in China, who has already supported companies through the Chinese approval process. Dr. Köstner will share:

  • The underlying legal framework and its impact on international trade relations
  • First-hand insights into the current situation
  • Practical advice and lessons learned from handling export license applications
  • Implications for compliance requirements faced by foreign companies

Date: July 30, 2025
