Dear VDMA member,

Following the strong interest in our first online event on China's export control regime, scheduled for July 24 and with over 100 registrations, we are pleased to invite you to a second session, which will offer more practical insights on navigating the regulatory landscape. Since April, China has imposed export controls on rare earth elements and permanent magnets — a move that has significantly impacted the automobile and machinery industries. Many companies are facing delays and uncertainty as they attempt to secure the necessary approvals, putting mounting pressure on their supply chains.

Navigating China's Export Controls on Rare Earths – Practical Insights for the Machinery Industry

This session will focus on practical guidance on the export approval process, highlight what is known—and what remains unclear—and share lessons learned from companies that have already navigated the permit application.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Dominic Köstner from GvW, a recognized export control expert based in China. Dr. Köstner has hands-on experience supporting international companies through the Chinese approval process and will share valuable insights and best practices:

  • The underlying legal framework and its impact on international trade relations
  • First-hand insights into the current situation
  • Practical advice and lessons learned from handling export license applications
  • Implications for compliance requirements faced by foreign companies
