Annette Erpenstein - Geographer, Urban Planner (Dr.) and Mediator


Annette Erpenstein grew up on a farm in Northern Germany before exploring the world as an Geographer and Urban Planner in Europe, United States and Asia.


All these places inspired and influenced her view on urban topics as well as citizens participation processes.

She has comprehensive professional urban planning experience in public service, private companies as head of urban planning divisions


In academia at the University of Seoul in South-Korea she also did research for her dissertation on Urban conflict studies in South Korea“ (2010).

In order to improve communication in public participation process on urban issues Annette obtained a Master of Mediation Degree to facilitate urban planning processes in a creative and collaborative approach to the best of the city and all its stakeholders.

Annette came to China, Beijing in 2014 and to Shanghai in 2017.


She works as Associated Partner of Constellations Internationals / Shanghai Flaneur creating learning program in the city and on city topics.

James Feldkamp - Co-Founder and CEO of MingJian,

James has over 20 years of China work experience and is fluent in Mandarin.


Prior to MingJian, James was the General Manager for BBK in China, a management consulting firm assisting leading automotive OEMs and suppliers on product quality, performance improvement and lean manufacturing.


Previously, as Asia Pacific Business Development Manager for Carrier (the HVAC division of United Technologies), James negotiated a joint venture with Midea and led the Asia Pacific post-merger integration of a $1billion refrigeration company.


Before Carrier, James co-founded Pacific Link Consulting, helping multinational companies improve their operations in China.

James started his career with A.T. Kearney as a consultant in the Global Transportation Group.


James holds an MBA with honors from INSEAD and two Bachelor degrees, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a BSE in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School and BAS in Transportation Engineering from the Engineering School.

James has certificates in Mandarin Chinese from the Beijing Language and Culture University and Middlebury College Chinese Language School.
