On Tuesday, 14 May 2024, Australian Treasurer Jim Chalmers will release the 2024-2025 federal budget. This budget is expected to address a range of issues, including investment in local manufacturing capability and economic sovereignty, the Net Zero emissions goal, and remodeled Stage 3 tax cuts.
With the stabilisation of Australia-China trade relations and shifting political and economic dynamics around the world, this year's budget is anticipated to be a significant one for Australia and, by extension, the Australia-China business community.
As such, AustCham China is excited to invite our members to this year's Budget Briefing. David Osborne, Minister-Counsellor (Treasury) from the Australian Embassy in Beijing, will join us in-person at the KWM Academy to outline the details of the budget. ANZ Chief Economist Richard Yetsenga will join us online to provide his analysis of the budget's implications. Together, our speakers will offer their insights on budget outcomes, including deficits, spending, tax, revenue, and key portfolios to focus on.
This event will follow a hybrid offline-online model. Webinar details will be sent to members who register leading up to the day.
