The Melbourne Cup is an iconic Australian sporting event commonly labelled as "The race that stops the nation". The annual event is observed on the first Tuesday of November, and celebrates Australia's rich sporting culture, fashion and glamour. This year is the 162st running of the Melbourne Cup with the race first held in 1861.
