Event Summary

When I die, will I be forgotten?

It's a question that may have popped-in your mind. Probably not a question, you easily say out loud or linger with for too long.

It was also the question, the artist Yolanda vom Hagen faced after her beloved grandmother passed away in 2016. Former deep-buried fears and anxieties about death revealed themselves and pushed the artist to face her personal and social believe systems. She started to question how her personal surroundings and network is fulfilling the support needed to be safe.

This Friday, November 22, the photographer Yolanda vom Hagen will talk about:

"How to grow out of the fear of being forgotten and simultaneously create a caring network in a transforming world?"

Photography being her tool of communication from a very young age, it became a very natural way to use it for her self-growth. In her processing, she developed 3 series around this topic of Life and Oblivion.

"How often do you sit down, consciously, to think about a person who passed away?"

In 2017, she started the Project "Life in Memory" where she led people through a visualization to meditate on a happy moment about a person that left the physical plane.

"How much can the social network in a self-creating and transitioning world offer a real physical safety net?"

In 2018, with the project 'OFFline", she tested how long it will take before anyone notices that a single foreigner died in her apartment in a Megacity.

Did anyone notice? Yolanda will let us know.

In her latest video project "Essence of You", Yolanda digs deeper in trying to capture the nature of a deceasing human by preserving personal experiences that friends shared with that spirit - which is going to move on.

Her talk will be visualized with photos and video of her projects.

Join us this Friday, November 22 and hear Yolanda talk about Life & Oblivion in a Transforming World.

After her talk there's time to discuss and share your thoughts with Yolanda.
