This exclusive CEO Forum is co-organized by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai and VDMA, bringing together a select group of top executives from leading German industrial companies for an afternoon of strategic dialogue and high-level networking.
Against the backdrop of China's evolving legal and economic environment, the forum will provide critical insights into the upcoming changes in China's Company Law and Bankruptcy Law, delivered by legal experts from TaylorWessing. A timely briefing on the German Vice-Chancellor's visit to China will further enrich the strategic context.

During his law studies at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Montpellier, Lukas Meyer was a student assistant at the Institute for Private International Law at the University of Heidelberg. He received a scholarship by the German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes). After his legal clerkship and second state examination with stages in Seoul and Cape Town, he worked as a lawyer in a large US litigation law firm in Hamburg before joining the diplomatic service in 2020. After completing his attaché training, Lukas Meyer worked in the Legal Department of the Federal Foreign Office Headquarters in the Civil Law Division until 2023. Since July 2023, Lukas Meyer has been Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Shanghai and Head of the Economic Department.

Kai Kim is a partner in Taylor Wessing’s China Group and a member of the firm's Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions practice group. He advises on a broad scope of corporate and commercial law matters, ranging from the incorporation and operation of companies to cross-border M&A transactions, with a particular focus on China-related projects. He is recognized as a key lawyer for China M&A/Corporate in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2024.
Besides his legal career, Kai is a graduate in Sinology and is a visiting lecturer at his alma matres, Humboldt University of Berlin and the Free University of Berlin, where he regularly teaches Chinese law. Furthermore, he collaborates with several startup programs supporting foreign startups entering the Chinese market, such as serving as a mentor with the German Accelerator program.

Navigating Legal Evolution: A Strategic Guide to China’s New Company and Bankruptcy Laws
Mr. Kai KimChina’s Company Law was just comprehensively amended in 2024, and now, a new judicial interpretation is underway that will further shape key governance issues, such as responsibilities of directors and general managers, enforcement of unpaid capital contributions, handling of nominee shareholdings, and procedures for resigning or changing the legal representative.
In parallel, a draft revision of the China’s Enterprise Bankruptcy Law has been introduced, which offers stronger restructuring options, including clearer rules for new financing, recognition of pre-filing workout agreements, coordination for corporate groups, and more predictable cross-border arrangements.
This session explains what these developments mean for foreign-invested companies in China, with a focus on practical steps.
