Machine Learning (ML) is a branch of artificial intelligence that studies algorithms able to learn autonomously, directly from the input data. Over the last decade, ML techniques have made a huge leap forward. Many investigations indicate ML as one the main enablers to evolve a traditional manufacturing system up to the Industry 4.0 level. Nevertheless, industrial applications are still few and limited to a small cluster of international companies. This training is intending to clarify the real potentialities of ML applied to quality management, one of the most important domain in the operation management. To this aim, classify different learning mechanisms and explain the basic functions of neural networks, several ML applications will be comprehensive reviewed, which could facilitate the orientation of practioners in this field.
