Chinese have a traditional culture dream of a peach blossom Shangri-La. Many urban people are looking for second homes with gardens in the countryside, especially those living in the mega cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, etc.
Dr. Pan Tao shares with us his personal story of creating a Shangri-La in suburban Shanghai. He has initiated in 2010 a service farming community called Ecoland Club Farm in Fengxian district about 50 km south of People's Square.
It has since then evolved into much more than a farm and develops itself into an eco-village with vegetable garden homes, nature school programs and community activities.
Due to the newly published land law amendment hitherto complications with rural land ownership will be gradually resolved, and Dr. Pan Tao hopes that his eco-village model will become a mainstream lifestyle for urban middle class families who long for second homes in the countryside.
Join us this Friday, September 27, as we invite Dr. Pan Tao and discuss with us why Shanghai's urban middle class craves for countryside living and what the recent land law amendment can do for them.
