The Philippines currently ranks as the second meat market by volume in the ASEAN region, after Vietnam, and as the fifth country in Asia, with a projection of a 32% increase over the next 5 years, this upward trend is common to all the types of meat that are given in the market, including pork, representing a market of high interest for European pork exports.
Pork production is one of the most important sectors in European agricultural production. Moreover, the EU is the biggest global exporter of agri-food products, and pork is the second product by value, accounting for 6% of all F&B exports. The EU is the main exporter in the world of pig products.
The promotion campaign "EU Pork, the Smart Choice", promoted by Interporc, and Filporc, the Spanish and Portuguese Associations of the Pork Sector and financed with funds from the European Union, is a set of promotional activities that will take place over three years in three Asian markets (China, Vietnam and the Philippines) to promote pork of European origin among professionals and consumers, highlighting the characteristics of European pork in areas such as sustainability, food safety, traceability, authenticity, animal welfare and respect for the environment.
Through this kick-off event, F&B professionals, including importers, distributors, traders, chefs, horeca professionals, etc. can get a better understanding of the promotional campaign and its activities, as well as meet with the Spanish and Portuguese industry representatives to discuss future cooperation opportunities.
