Even though most companies have recognized that critical social diversity & inclusion benefits business, many of them are not certain about the roads to achieving this goal.

With its series 'Diversity Insights', the German Chamber of Commerce | Shanghai aims to support companies with this challenge by providing a platform for intercultural exchange as well learnings from the corporate, government, nonprofit and higher education sectors.

The series will kick off this September with its first event entitled "How Chinese Women Rise: What We Can Learn from Chinese Women in Top Management functions":

How do female Chinese executives make it to the top? Is there a secret recipe for their success?

Contrary to what most people in the West might expect, China has a higher proportion of women in senior executive roles than other countries in the world, far outstripping Western countries such as the USA, France or Germany.

What makes female Chinese top managers so successful?

To find out, Dr. Bettina Al-Sadik-Lowinski interviewed 35 Chinese women in senior level functions who she met through her work as an Executive Coach in China for her PhD. research with the University of Burgundy in France. The result is a unique research project, the "Global Women Career Lab", which analyses the mechanisms, attitudes and carefully planned career paths that enabled these women to rise to senior positions at multinational corporations in China.

In partnership with the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and its Women's Executive Network (WEN), the German Chamber of Commerce | Shanghai invites to meet Ms. Dr. Bettina-Al-Sadik-Lowinski who will share her book results and approaches on how to climb up the career ladder. Dr. Al-Sadik-Lowinski is joined by a panel of three successful women in top management positions from different origins to discuss from their personal practice how to make it to the top.
