Dear Members and Friends of SwissCham,
SwissCham Shanghai is pleased to extend an invitation for you to join our event, the "Cross Border Data Transfer Roundtable." This event aims to facilitate knowledge sharing on compliance practices in data transfer.
In recent years, the Chinese government has introduced various laws and regulations to enhance data security, including the Data Security Law and the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL). The recent release of the "Standards and Measures for the Transmission of Personal Information" further emphasizes the significance of data compliance.
Data compliance involves managing and utilizing data in accordance with relevant regulations, laws, and standards. It encompasses protecting personal privacy, ensuring data security, and adhering to legal and compliance requirements. Compliance with data regulations is a crucial obligation for businesses, as it helps safeguard personal privacy, enhance corporate reputation, and mitigate legal risks. By familiarizing themselves with applicable regulations, establishing robust compliance management systems, and providing comprehensive employee training, enterprises can effectively fulfill their data compliance obligations and maintain the legality and sustainability of their data processing activities.
SwissCham Shanghai has invited the following legal experts to a roundtable discussion on this topic:
- Dr Shi Yuhang, Partner at Hui Ye Law Firm
- Sun Julian, Senior Associate at Taylor Wessing Shanghai Representative Office
- Tang Pan Pan, Senior Associate at CMS Shanghai Office
- Zhang Yuemei, Senior Associate at Shaohe Law Firm
The roundtable discussion will cover several topics:
- Common practice of B2B business focused multinational companies with regard to compliance for cross-border data transfer
- Differences between transfer mechanisms under PIPL and GDPR for cross-border data transfer
- Important Data and Compliance Route for Data Export
Kind reminder: This event is held under Chatham House Rules which are outlined below. More information can be found here.
