Dear VDMA member,

In 2025, China has put into force its first-ever law dedicated to defining and promoting the role of its private economy. The new law aims to level the playing field between private and state-owned firms, boost confidence among private enterprises, and reinforce the private sector's contribution to growth. Chinas economy is a unique mix of state-controlled giants (SOEs) and a dynamic yet often constrained private sector. The new law promises equal treatment with state-owned firms, stronger protection of intellectual property rights, improved access to finance, and limits on arbitrary government interference. Private firms, including foreign-invested companies, stand to benefit. This could be a landmark moment for the future development. The private sector accounts for around 60% of China's GDP, yet private investment has declined in recent years. Who will shape China's economic future? We will explore these questions in depth with two keynote speeches, followed by a panel discussion and a live Q&A session.
