Dear Members and Friends of SwissCham,

As data security and privacy protection are among the top areas that C-level managers in China need to know about, SwissCham Shanghai is happy to invite you to our upcoming breakfast event, discussing two major new laws that have been recently announced:

The Data Security Law (DSL)

On June 10, 2021, the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress passed the Data Security Law (DSL), which took effect on September 1. The purpose of the new law is to regulate so-called "data activities", in addition to the safeguard of data and the usage of data.

The Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL)

On August 20, China's new Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) was passed into law. It is designed to protect online user data privacy. It will be implemented as of November 1, 2021.

To get insights and first assessments of these laws, we have invited the following speakers:

  • Dr. Michael Tan, partner at Taylor Wessing law firm, and
  • Jesmine Yan, CIO China & AP at Schindler

Michael Tan will shed some light from a legal point of view, stress the important concepts and key principles, and discuss the impact these laws may have on companies.

Jesmine Yan will offer insights how Schindler is managing and handling these new laws and how they impact the company's internal and external corporate environment.

Due to the nature of this event, registration is open to:
