Adrian is a Nationally Certified Counselor with the United States National Board for Certified Counselors. She became a licensed graduate counselor in Washington DC after finishing her master’s in clinical mental health counseling.
Having lived and worked abroad for ten years, Adrian has experience collaborating with clients in transient communities. She has an appreciation for the impact of culture and family on our perceptions of problems. Adrian supports clients to promote their values in their life and work towards a commitment to their identity and personal goals. Clients can expect a strengths-based approach working towards self-advocacy and self-acceptance. Adrian utilizes postmodern approaches including ACT, Narrative Therapy, Emotion-focused, and and Non-Violent Communication.
Adrian has experience working with individuals and groups in eating disorder recovery, as well as clients impacted by grief, adjustment, developmental issues, anxiety, body-image, and the impacts of social expectations like perfectionism and individualism on our mental health. She believes harnessing personal understanding, compassion, and creativity can free us from rigid solutions to complex problems.
Event Details
A strength-based therapeutic support group that helps to demystify the struggle with body image and re-invest in a new approach to life. In weekly sessions, this group will consider the barriers to Self-care and Self-cherishing related to body image. Members will gain insights, set goals, and find a supportive environment to hone cognitive and emotion-focused skills needed to decrease feelings of shame and self-doubt.
