China’s government has been pushing the “cyber sovereignty” concept for a number of years and is stepping up efforts to be able to police communication and data flows within the country and overseas. China is incrementally adding new legislative and policy tools to compel businesses to become part of this effort. Companies, domestic and foreign-invested alike, are now being asked to do their bit in con-tributing to a “safe and healthy” cyber environment, potentially exposing them to serious breaches of confidential information.
For this workshop, we will analyze the existing obligations and look at how these are affecting everything from factory automation, your ERP system to the use of VPNs. Our discussion will cover:
• your organizational duties and best practices (IT departments, IT administrators); • cloud solutions in China; • storage and processing of information inside and outside PRC territory; • protection of personal data and “important” data; • intercompany networks; • IT purchasing requirements and restrictions; • IoT applications.
