Technology is one of the fastest growing and most influential industries in the world today. The sector is expected to grow expontentially in the next decade due to the rapid development of new technologies. Although women are lead adopters of technology, they are highly underepresented in the technology sector--as demonstrated by the following statements:
Women made up 26% of the computing workforce in 2013
In the mid-1980s, 37% of computer science majors were women; in 2012, 18%
57% of bachelor's degrees are earned by women yet only 12% of them are computer science degrees
Google's workforce is only about 30% female
7% of venture capital funding goes to women-owned businesses
4.2% of investing VCs are women
20% of software developers are women
Whether you can code, pitch, create, or calculate, there is a wealth of opportunities for women in the tech industry.
