BWN's PMM Group serves Beijing women working through pregnancy, marriage and motherhood. We host dinners to connect and grow upon members by focusing on the issues related to PMM.

Vanessa Jencks is a writer and current managing editor of beijingkids magazine. The website, vanessajencks.com is her personal blog, in which she assesses and discusses matters such as education, expatriation, society and womanhood. Vanessa is married and a mother of 2 children.

Family comes first.

Just recently Vanessa went through an extremely difficult period of time as she finished her US teacher's certificate, tried to maintain her blog, began guest writing for books and blogs, continued to teach at her Montessori school, attended to the editorial and managerial duties at beijingkids part time, and loved on her family - her husband and two children, ages 3 and 4.

She'll be sharing funny and sad experiences through that trial by fire time that allows her to reflect on her previous times as a stay at home mother, part time worker, and "normal" full time worker. She's come to the definitive decision that family comes first, especially when life is going wrong.

    Vanessa Jencks

    Managing editor at beijingkids

Vanessa Jencks is the current managing editor of beijingkids magazine and has been a writer in Beijing since 2014. She hails from Greenville, South Carolina, a small city that educated her much more about cultural struggles and divides than would be expected from a city in the South. She’s the rebel, in a family of teachers, who swore would never become a teacher, and yet somehow found herself pursuing an education career. During her teaching stint, she started writing with a touch of sarcasm about education, expatriation, society and womanhood on vanessajencks.com.
