Volkswagen has been active in a Joint Venture with SAIC in Shanghai since 1984. SAIC VOLKSWAGEN (SVW) has been developing unique car models and constantly adapted to the changing demands of the Chinese market.to remain competitive.
We invite those who are interested in the automotive industry to join us on this site visit to get an idea on how the SVW newly built factory - designed specifically for MEB (Modular electric drive Matrix) production worldwide - looks like. This is a unique opportunity to take a tour "behind the scenes", allowing participants to have a firsthand look at the passenger cars being put together and to discuss the future of the Chinese car markets with experts from SVW.
Background: SVW's new factory - MEB factory is the first newly built factory designed specifically for MEB production worldwide. The plant has an annual production capacity of 300,000 units. The new plant has been put into operation in October 2020. In terms of intelligent manufacturing, the plant uses over 1,400 industrial robots and applies cutting-edge manufacturing technology on a large scale to realize intelligent and digitalized processes?
In terms of energy conservation and environmental protection, 28 new environmentally friendly and energy-saving technologies were adopted, which makes the five key environmental indicators of energy, water, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds and waste decreased by 20 percent. The MEB platform is compatible with real-time updated software and hardware, providing users with a more comprehensive intelligent networking experience. This special excursion will give the participants a good chance to visit the newest MEB factory of SVW.
