Managing Employment and Labor Disputes During COVID-19

– Layoffs, Pay Cuts and Termination of Employment Contracts

Monday, May 11, 2020

3:00 PM – 4:30 PM (GMT +8)

(Registration Deadline: May 8th, 6 PM)

The recent outbreak of COVID-19 is continuing to cause numerous challenges to companies operating in China. Since the beginning of 2020, the Chinese central and local governments have released various regulations to provide guidance and assistance to companies in China, helping them manage labor and employment issues relating to COVID-19.

While the overall aim of the Chinese Government is to avoid or mitigate unemployment due to COVID-19, many businesses in China face significant financial hardships and operational difficulties. Companies might find themselves with no choice but to consider the reduction of benefits, pay-cuts, and layoffs.

In light of this situation, the webinar will focus on:

  • Employment termination and layoffs as a result of COVID-19
  • Severance payment
  • Alternative working solutions (adjustment of salaries, short-time work, rotation of shifts, etc.)
  • Labor arbitration

Language: English
