What's the difference between photography and picture taking? As a photographer and traveler over 30 years my view on photography that it is a wonderful journey to sharpen your mind to explore and appreciate the beauty of creations.


In this new series of photo class, Lawrence will take the students on a journey of discovery of themselves as well as finding the extra ordinaries from the ordinaries. Each 3 hour class consists of basic theories of photography, live practice and sharing. It's designed to be interactive and fun.

LESSON 1: Basics of Photography & Use of your Equipments

This session focus on the basic use of colors, light and composition to tell a story which is the soul of a picture.

Basic operations of your camera will be covered to ensure you use your tools in the right way so you need to bring your manual. Students will be taught why mindset and planning are more important than just technicalities.

LESSON 2: Lines and Shapes

Focus of this session is train our eyes to see patterns, shades, contrast etc to identify the "extraordinaries " from the ordinaries.

How seeing from a different angle helps improve creativity in our life.

LESSON 3: Travel Photography of Culture & People

Traveling in China is rewarding if you can capture the unique cultures of the people and places. This session will focus on how to capture that unique moment in your trip. We will travel to local quarters to practice.

LESSON 4: Night Photography

The skyline of Shanghai after dark is futuristic and colorful. This session focuses on the use of slow shutter speed and accessories such as ND filters to capture the mood in low light photography.

LESSON 5: Post-productions

Introduce the use of 2 mainstream software, Snapseed and basic Lightroom, to enhance your photos. Mian focus on Snapseed as it a quick tool on the move and idea for most social media. You will learn how to edit the pictures on color temperature, saturation, contrast and add texts.
