About the Events

The event will bring together young professionals and internship host supervisors who wish to learn more about what a healthy internship program looks like for both interns and host organizations.     China Partner, Northern Region Financial Advisory Leader at Deloitte

    Mr. Jimmy Chan is a partner and the leader of the Financial Advisory Services, Northern Region for Deloitte China, and also the leader of Deloitte’s China M&A Corridor, a joint venture by Deloitte Global and Deloitte China to provide seamless professional services to Chinese and multinational companies on outbound and inbound M&A transactions.

    Mr. Chan has many years of experience in advising domestic and foreign clients on mergers and acquisitions, private fund raisings and restructurings. He has significant corporate finance experience in infrastructure, real estate, retailing and financial services.

    Before re-joining Deloitte in 2015, Mr. Chan was Chief Executive Officer of Carrianna Group, a real estate developer listed in Hong Kong, and Chief Executive Officer of Value Partners Group, the largest hedge fund manager in Asia.

    Previously Mr. Chan was Chief Executive, Northern China of Kailongrei, an international real estate investment and management firm in China. He was also a founding member of Deloitte China’s corporate finance practice and built its Financial Advisory Practice in Beijing.

    Mr. Chan also served as the Vice Chairman of the Financial Services and Treasury of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association.

    Tim Chen

    Head of International Product at Mobike

    Visiting China every 2-4 years, Tim saw first-hand how China transformed from the early stages of capitalism in the 90s to the burgeoning tech powerhouse it is today. While exploring the tech scene in China in 2014, he noticed that with the rise of Xiaomi and other China-innovated companies, the World was about to transition from thinking "How will China westernize?" to "How will the world become more Chinese?" Following this thesis, he most recently joined Mobike as Head of International Product, where he oversees core user experience abroad and works directly with the international business unit.

    Tim leads a team comprised of product managers, product growth specialists, and engineers. His team is responsible for driving core product vision outside China and localizing for optimal experience. He works closely with the international business units to align their business needs with product capability. I.e. he balances business needs and technical capabilities to ensure strong user experience.

    Tim graduated with a degree in Finance and Management from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce. Post graduation, he worked on various cross-border deals as a tech and media investment banker and then as an equity analyst at a hedge fund on Wall Street. Later, he ran supply operations at a Y-Combinator – backed startup in Silicon Valley which sold to Square, and then worked on product and operations at Uber, focusing on UberPOOL.

    Chad Futrell has spent almost twenty years conducting research and working in China and South Korea, including consulting for numerous NGOs and MNCs. Chad is currently the Executive Director of Student Life at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University, where he launched and oversaw the Practical Training Project internship program, and currently oversees the Deep Dive mobile learning course, and Chinese and English language programs, He was previously the Center Director of the CIEE Study Center at Peking University and Minzu University of China where he established a Service Learning Program. Before shifting into higher education administration, Chad won several teaching awards for his courses on China’s development and environmental challenges, international relations, government, and business culture.

    As Program Director at Philanthropy in Motion (PIM), Meg develops experiential education programs on social innovation and entrepreneurship. Recognized by Forbes (30 Under 30 Social Entrepreneur), the Economist, and the Stanford Social Innovation Review, among others, PIM is a leader of philanthropy education in Asia and hub for social innovation across Greater China.

    Through her work, Meg aims to empower the next generation to take action in solving intractable social and environmental challenges. Previously, Meg was Senior Associate at Elevate, a development consulting firm based in Washington, DC, where she led the launch of INSIGHT, an incubator curriculum for early-stage non-profit leaders and social entrepreneurs seeking to scale. Meg earned her BA with honors in History from Grinnell College and is a recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Scholar Award. In Beijing, she is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper and Co-chair of the Beijing Women’s Network.
