Speaker: Ling Kong, CEO, Beike Financial Services, a financial services company that handled about 10% of China's consumer real estate transactions last year

Lost in the rhetoric over the trade war are the raft of financial reforms Beijing is undertaking to open up its economy to foreigners in what's been called "China's Big Bang." For one, UBS and other foreign brokers can now take majority stakes in their China ventures in a radical change. Ling will discuss some of the successes and failures one year on. He'll also explain how fintech is transforming China's banking and financial industry for good and bad. While it could lead to China's ascendance as the leader in tech, it could also mean the loss of hundreds of thousands of banking jobs as robots and automation take over. Finally, Ling will discuss the P2P crackdown on consumer lending platforms and what it means for the world's second-biggest economy as growth slows and deleveraging gathers pace.

About the speaker: Ling Kong is CEO of Beike Financial, a leader in providing housing related financial services in China. He has 16 years of strategic and technology management experience. Prior to Beike, he was part of the founding team of two Silcon Valley start-ups. Ling was the Chief Product Officer of a Sequoia backed mobile entertainment startup. He was on the founding team of Dianrong, a marketplace lending platform that stands today at the forefront of financial technology innovation. Ling holds a Bachelor of Science in Symbolic Systems and Human-Computer Interaction from Stanford University.
