We are rushed, hurried, and hectic, so, oftentimes, the food we eat is quick, insufficient, and lifeless. The organization Slow Food looks to counteract the rise of this fast life and combat our dwindling interest in the food we eat.
Join us this Friday, November 2, as we invite Valtero Canepa, leader of Shanghai's local Slow Food Convivium to speak on Slow Food's vision of a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it, and good for the planet.
Their approach is based on a concept of food that is defined by three interconnected principles: good, clean and fair.
Slow Food has a chapter in Shanghai whose aims are to raise awareness of the need to change the food system at global level and specifically in China, reducing waste and meat consumption, promoting traditional farming methodologies, and protecting biodiversity.
Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, combat people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how our food choices affect the world around us.
Fresh Start Rotary Club of Shanghai is a member club of a global network of 1.2 million who envision a world where people unite to create lasting change. We support social enterprise and help empower entrepreneurs with a social purpose.
We warmly welcome all to attend, listen, and to ask questions.
