The Princess of Trash is coming to speak, and she and her company are on an illustrious mission to work hand-in-hand with different industries to strive towards a green, worldwide circular system.
What moved her to start her business? How did she develop her seed of inspiration?
Join us this Friday, September 21, as we invite Sissi Chao, founder of REmakeHub to share her story of why and how she started her business and its efforts to balance people, nature and profit.
A member of the 2018 Forbes "30 under 30" China list, Sissi seeks to follow the "cradle to cradle" principle of design, in which products that are created mimic nature's cycle of birth to death to rebirth. Her company uses high-tech recycled material and inventive upcycling to reduce fashion waste and save natural resources. She is also trying to establish the business for good and help improve local disabled people's lives.
REmakeHub is a young social enterprise and it believes "Trashion" is the next super fashion. Through their use of recycled fabrics and creative upcycling ideas to generate the first generation of sustainable products, they manifest the belief that our world's natural resources should be used carefully.
REmakeHub has managed to involve Asian companies that are leaders in their respective fields (from waste management companies, technological centers and recyclers, to thread and fabric manufacturers). These companies will collaborate and share their experience in recycling different types of debris (PET bottles, fishing nets, coffee grounds, etc.) and innovative upcycling ideas through their international alliances with design specialists.
Fresh Start warmly welcomes all to attend, listen, and ask questions.
The following week, September 28, we will have Valtero Canepa to discuss the slow food movement.
