Since the reform and opening policy, a market-oriented and open financial system is formed gradually. The financial reform in China is featured with emphasis on both macro-stability and micro-efficiency. However, along with the high-speed economic growth, some risks have accumulated in the financial system with the continuously growing level of debt. The infrastructure of the credit system is still weak without sufficient market discipline. The endorsement of government has been the major support of the credit system, and bank loans are the major channel that firms get financed.
Ping HE, the professor in the Finance Department at the School of Economics and Management (SEM) of Tsinghua University, and the director of the China Center for Financial Research (CCFR) will share his expert thought on the above phenomenon.
